CHANGEMAKERS

I started going to HDA’s youth club with a friend. At first I just stayed quiet and played a bit of table tennis. The staff were friendly and didn’t pressure me. Now I come most weeks. I’ve made friends, I’ve tried the gym sessions, and if I’m stressed I can sit in the chill space and talk. It feels like a safe place to be.

My child started going to HDA’s sessions when they were spending too much time indoors. They began looking forward to going out, talking about the activities and the friends they’d made. The staff are approachable, and the food included is a real help. Over time I’ve seen better routine and more confidence.

Parent of Child year 8

I started volunteering with HDA to build my confidence and do something positive. The staff supported me from the start and explained everything clearly. I helped with youth club sessions and some trips. Young people can join in or just talk, and that flexibility really helps. Volunteering has made me feel part of the community.
